The Palma Rueda is a unique film competition in the world. The coexistence that is generated during a week between participating artists and locals, together with the beauty and spectacularity of the island of La Palma, make it a vital experience.

Some professionals who have participated in our competition, today are recognized talent in international festivals such as Cannes, Berlinale or the Goyas.
Since 2002, the Palma Rueda has been the world’s first film competition, emulated every year by film festivals around the world.
IT’S A CHALLENGE…
The participants face the challenge of coming up with a story, finding locations and forming a technical and artistic team to shoot, edit and premiere a short film on the island of La Palma during the week of the meeting, according to a motto read at the opening ceremony.
All the works made are projected on the closing weekend of the festival.
WARNING
Not everyone is ready to participate in the La Palma Rueda film competition and make good films in extreme conditions.
You have to be a true guerrilla and know how to live and share the experience with the rest of participants. If you come… You’ll repeat!
IMPORTANT ADVISORY
- Forget everything you learned before arriving on the island
- Do not bring any prepared story
- Be prepared physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually
- Don’t think about the story you’re going to shoot
- Let yourself be carried away by the island of La Palma
- Do it yourself: The Palma Rueda has been designed for a single person to write, roll and edit
their own short with the least technical equipment possible, although it is never bad help,
especially in the sound. - Take care of the island. It’s very beautiful. Don’t leave bad memories.
