In this VIII edition of Festivalito, a deserved tribute is to be paid to one of the most prolific Cine Chico directors: Mario Iglesias.
Graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Vigo, Mario Iglesias is and multidisciplinary artist who began his journey in the Audiovisual Arts in the late 90s.
He, so far, has accomplished a score of short features achieving hits and prizes such as the best Video Short Feature in the VI edition of International Short Movies Contest "La Boca del Lobo"; at Notodopublifest, the Jury Award for Best Spot for El País Journal for "De Buena Fuente"; and with "Corten", the II edition of Notodofilmfest, International Festival of Compressed Movies; Best Short Feature Award of La Palma Rueda at Festivalito in several editions for "Intensidad" and "Ensayo"; or Best Fiction Short Movie in Festival de Cans, Pontevedra, among many others.
His short movie, "Madres", has earned big success in many festivals and contest all around the country, including the First Prize in the VIIth Short Movies Contest of SAGE/Versión Española and FNAC Short Movies New Talent.
In the long features field, his career is also remarcable: "De Bares" (2006), "Catalina" (2009), "Cartas Italianas" (2008), "O almorço do poeta" (2008) and "Relatos" (2009).
"De Bares" has won the Special Prize of the Jury in the Independent Film Festival of Ourense and has been selected in Seminci, Valladolid Film Festival, at Punto de Encuentro Section; selected for the Official Section at 24th edition of the Festival Festivali Europa Cinema (Viareggio - Italy); Montpellier; Bogocine in Bogotá and many other festivals.
